Following on from a 3-1 win against Accrington Stanley at the weekend, which saw Sunderland score three goals, manager Jack Ross has some big decisions to make regarding squad selection for the game against Rotherham on Tuesday night.
Ross made three changes from his side's defeat to Peterborough. With Charlie Wyke ruled out through suspension, Conor McLaughlin and Max Power were dropped to the bench in favour of Denver Hume, George Dobson and Chris Maguire against Accrington.
Saturday saw Lynden Gooch continue his bright start to the season, adding another goal to his tally for the Black Cats in League One. Key player Aiden McGeady also netted a goal, while new boy Marc McNulty returned to haunt Stanley with a goal, after scoring his first for Sunderland there in the EFL Cup last month.
With the exception of Duncan Watmore, Ross said that the squad is in a "healthy state", and that they're monitoring one or two players who were carrying injuries prior to last weekend's game.
Furthermore, new signings Joel Lynch and Laurens de Bock are expected to get some minutes for the Under-23s on Monday night in their game against Middlesbrough.
However, the strength of Sunderland's forward line continues to provide a positive dilemma for Ross for the game against Rotherham.
Wyke makes his return to the squad following his suspension following his red card at Peterborough. With McGeady, McNulty, Wyke, Maguire and Will Grigg all available someone is going to miss out.
