Wycombe v Blackpool match delayed after helicopter lands on pitch to help ill fan

A League One match between Wycombe Wanderers and Blackpool has been delayed after a fan was taken seriously ill, with a medical helicopter landing on the pitch at Adams Park.

The game was due to kick-off at 7.45pm and both sets of players had taken to the pitch to warm up, but around 15 minutes before play was due to start it was confirmed by Wycombe that the match would be delayed.

There is currently no other information about the incident other than the fact it was a male supporter in one of the corporate lounges who fell ill.

Journalist Jacqui Oatley posted a picture of the air ambulance from Adams Park saying: "Helicopter has just landed in the pitch here at Wycombe due to medical emergency. Spectator taken ill in corporate lounge. Hoping they will be OK. Kick-off, due for 7:45pm, will be delayed."

If the match has not started by 8:45pm it must be delayed, but it looks likely it will go ahead as planned after the supporter was taken to hospital.

Oatley continued: "The fan has left for hospital in a regular ambulance, seriously ill, and so the air ambulance will be leaving the pitch in a few minutes. Wycombe v Blackpool expected to go ahead at this point. Thoughts with the gentleman and his family."

Wycombe are chasing promotion from League One, and currently sit in third place in the table, level on points with second-place Rotherham and a point behind leaders Ipswich, although they have lost two of their last three games 4-0.

Blackpool, meanwhile, are in 15th place, seven points off the playoff spots, but they have not won in their last eight games in all competitions.
