Wyatt Pike addresses unexpected ‘American Idol’ exit in Instagram post

The former “American Idol” hopeful who unexpectedly left the show this week has broken his silence.

Wyatt Pike shared an Instagram post Wednesday, two days after his exit was announced on the ABC singing competition series.

“I had to leave the @AmericanIdol competition for personal reasons but am so thankful I get to play music for the rest of my life,” Pike wrote.

“Fellow contestants - miss you all, good luck! Thank you to everyone for your support… do stick around for more musical things soon!”

Neither Pike nor “American Idol” have specifically disclosed the 20-year-old’s reasons for leaving show.

The singer had advanced to the final 12 contestants on “American Idol.” He was most recently seen performing on Sunday’s episode, which featured this season’s top 16 finalists.

Pike performed “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon and received positive feedback from the judges.

“I’m telling you, Wyatt, you are going to be able to do music for the rest of your life,” judge Luke Bryan said to Pike on the show.

Last week, Pike shared an Instagram photo from Park City, Utah.

On Wednesday, he posted an image of a car surrounded by snow to his Instagram story.

“Good to be home!” Pike wrote. “Also rather snowy... love you all!”
