WWE wrestler Sheamus opens up on 'sleeping giants' Nottingham Forest

WWE superstar Sheamus has shared his thoughts on "sleeping giants" Nottingham Forest during an interview with Nottinghamshire Live this week.

The Irish wrestler sat down on Zoom to discuss the organisation's upcoming event at the Motorpoint Arena on Tuesday, November 9.

While the Celtic Warrior discussed his career achievements and memories in the wrestling business, his love of football continued to creep into the conversation.

Sheamus, real name Stephen Farrelly, has been performing on the WWE main roster since 2009, picking up four world titles.

As part of his performances with WWE Sheamus often enjoys taunting the crowd, and his trips to Nottingham are no different.

Sharing his thoughts on visiting the city, he said: "I think Nottingham is a beautiful city.

"I have a lot of football memories of Nottingham, especially with Forest.

"I think I remember slagging the crowd off because they were in the first division [Championship], and I think that was maybe ten years ago and they're still there - that's a sleeping giant right there!

"When I did NBC Premier League Mornings, I think [Alan] Shearer was there and the two Robbie's and we were talking about massive clubs that haven't been in the Premier League for a while.

"We talked about Leeds but they're back up there, and we talked about Nottingham Forest and I think Sheffield Wednesday was another one.

"It must be hard for the football fans in Nottingham to not be involved in the Premier League."

Prices for the November 9 show start at £30, click here to book tickets.
