WWE Wrestlemania 35 2019: Bret Hart attacker charged with two counts of assault after tackling Hall of Fame wrestler during speech

A fan who tackled Brett Hart during his WWE Hall of Fame speech has been allegedly charged with two counts of assault.

A man rushed to the ring during the ceremony ahead of Wrestlemania 35 and grabbed the legendary wrestler before taking him to the ground.

A melee ensued with wrestling stars Shane McMahon, Xavier Woods, Tyson Kidd, and Curtis Axel all reportedly rushing to the aid of the 61-year-old wrestler.

Travis Browne, the husband to Ronda Rousey and a UFC heavyweight, also reportedly jumped into the ring to help.

The attacker is also reported to have been charged with trespassing, in addition to two counts of assault, report CBS News in New York.

Hart received minor injuries in the brawl, as did a security guard, the report adds.

Hart’s niece Natalya was by his side during the attack, with The Hart Foundation inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Fan footage showed the attacker being punched after being led away out of the arena.

The Saturday ceremony was a key event in the build-up to the biggest show of the year Wrestlemania.

The pay-per-view extravaganza takes place in MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday night.
