WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins reveals love of Ireland - despite horror injury in Dublin

WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins holds no ill-will toward Ireland, even after suffering a horror injury in Dublin that caused him to relinquish the WWE Championship in 2015.

The Monday Night Raw star will return to our shores for WWE Belfast on May 8th in the SSE Arena, alongside Ireland's own champs Finn Balor and Becky Lynch.

And speaking to Irish Mirror online, Rollins said: "I've never had any ill-will with the Irish fans, I don't think, and I hope they've never had any ill-will towards me.

"I've always loved the country and when I got hurt they were very respectful and understanding and appreciative.

"The times I've come back to Dublin since then they've been very receptive to me.

He was also involved in a match with Finn Balor at Summerslam 2016, where a move went wrong and caused the Bray native to be out of action for almost eight months with a shoulder injury.

Becky Lynch makes history by winning the main event at WWE WrestleMania 35

"I hope they don't hold it against me that I hurt Finn," Rollins said of the incident. "I didn't mean to, I promise!

"He's back and healthy and doing awesome as the Intercontinental Champion so I think me and the Irish fans are on good terms. I know they're a stubborn bunch but I think we're alright."

And when asked about rumours of an off-screen romance between himself and fellow champion; Dubliner Becky Lynch who is currently Women's champion for both Raw and SmackDown, he remained coy.

"I'll leave that one up to you," he joked.

WWE returns to Ireland next month, making a stop at the SSE Arena Belfast on May 8th and the 3 Arena in Dublin on May 9th, tickets are still available on Ticketmaster.ie.
