WWE to BT Sport? Latest as Sky Sports 'set to lose UK TV rights' after 30 years

BT Sport are keeping tight-lipped over claims that they are set to pinch WWE broadcasting rights from Sky Sports.

The world’s largest wrestling company has been housed on Sky for three decades

But The Telegraph reports that the UK wrestling fans will soon be heading elsewhere for their Raw and Smackdown Live fix.

After rival franchise All Elite Wrestling announced a partnership with ITV, it’s now claimed that BT have agreed terms with WWE, leaving Sky short.

It’s claimed that Sky have grown frustrated with WWE showing its pay-per-views on the company’s online subscription service, the WWE network.

A subscription to the network costs just £9.99 a month, whereas Sky charge around £20 per pay-per-view.

With WWE CEO Vince McMahon not intent on changing that any time soon, Sky’s desire to spend big on the product has seemingly waned.

There are no details on BT's apparent deal with WWE at present, but it seems likely that they will assume the rights when Sky's contract ends this year.

BT Sport have declined to comment on the situation.

The channel has recently reached record highs this year, with Liverpool’s recent Champions League comeback against Barcelona being seen by over two million viewers.

ITV will air upcoming AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view from Las Vegas on May 25.

The show’s main event sees WWE legend Chris Jericho face Kenny Omega.
