WWE great Triple H on whether he'll compete at WrestleMania 37

WWE great Triple H says he won't get in the ring at WrestleMania - despite prods from wrestling legend Ric Flair.

WrestleMania 37 will be held over two nights this weekend at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

The line-up features ring greats past and present like Edge, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton and Roman Reigns.

But conspicuous by his absence will be the 14-time world champion Triple H, aka WWE backstage bigwig Paul Levesque.

Now the company's executive vice-president of talent relations, live events and creative, he is focused on WWE's developmental division, NXT.

Speaking ahead of NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, Levesque was asked by Alex McCarthy of Talksport about not being on the Mania card.

He said: "Getting ready for WrestleMania is hard and the older you get the harder it gets. You try to stay in the best shape you can but that's not WrestleMania shape.

"From a personal, professional side of things I would love nothing more, but the reality with it is that I don’t have the bandwidth or the availability schedule wise to pull that off. I wish I had the bandwidth to do it. I'm at a point where to me the in-ring stuff is a bonus."

Wrestling superfans may be shocked to learn that this will be the first WrestleMania since WrestleMania 4 in 1988 that none of HHH, Shawn Michaels or the recently retired Undertaker will be part of the annual extravaganza.

It has been revealed that current WWE superstar AJ Styles is constantly urging Triple H to return to the ring, so he can face The Game in the squared circle.

Triple H said his close friend, WWE Hall Of Famer 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair also wants to see him lace up the boots again.

He said: "Flair calls me all the time to tell me that I have to get back in the ring and have that closure.

"There is a part of me that wants to do it, but a bigger part of me that is so busy 24/7 that if you even contemplate training in a way that I would want to train and get in shape... and by that I don't mean look, I mean in shape ring wise so you don’t embarrass yourself, is a lot of work.

"I'm not afraid of the work it's just the time!"
