WWE Glasgow: Wrestler Drew MacIntyre kisses pavement outside airport prior to Hydro show

WWE superstar Drew McIntyre did what plenty of us have probably joked we would do after flying back to Glasgow having spent time away - bent down and kissed the pavement outside Glasgow Airport to celebrate our return.

The two-time WWE Champion, who once fought for a world title on Maryhill Road, cracked a joke about sanitising lips as he carried out his street smooch prior to his big return to the SSE Hydro tonight for WWE Live.

The 36-year-old Ayr native has been unable to fly home to Scotland for two years due to the covid pandemic, having returned to the WWE fold after signing up with NXT back in April of 2017.

The grappler - who has a signature move called 'The Glasgow Kiss' was filmed by his entourage arriving at Glasgow Airport and walking through the terminal, before he dropped to his knees to kiss the street outside, the Daily Record reports.

The video starts with McIntrye saying: "You ever seen Robin Hood? It's probably incredibly unhygienic but I haven't been home for two years. I'm very excited."

He then kisses the ground before exclaiming: "Home finally! I could use some sanitiser for my lips!"

And he follows that with: "I'm really excited to see my family, my nephew who is three, I've only seen twice. He only knows me as the guy that climbs out the television so I'm very excited to see all my family.

"It's awesome to be back in Glasgow. There are so many significant moments from my career that have happened here. You can't imagine, after the past few days in Newcastle, London, Cardiff how loud they've been.

"Glasgow is going to, I don't know, possibly break the sound barrier."
