WWE 2K26 Teasers Hint at AJ Lee’s Return and More

A few days back, the WWE 2K website dropped the first of the Daily Clues teaser, confirming the addition of I Quit matches, AAA wrestlers, and the beloved thumb tacks in WWE 2K26. Today, the same website has teased a lot more. We now know that the mirror in the image is supposed to be the one Blake Monroe uses in her entrance, basically confirming her addition.

Even more exciting is the fact that under the TV/DVR set, you can see the words “Light It Up.” This is an obvious reference to AJ Lee’s theme song, which means that the iconic superstar is finally returning. The rest of the image shows Stone Cold’s beer cans, a fire extinguisher (Inferno Match tease), a baseball bat with barbed wire, and the current male and female Intercontinental Championship belts.

In addition to this news, the ESRB ratings page for WWE 2K26 has been updated, and it confirms the platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. That’s right, 2K is finally skipping last-gen consoles, with an alleged release date of March 13.

And, bah god, we’re getting thumbtacks!!!

2K Puts Last-Gen Consoles To Rest

PC, PS5, and Xbox gamers will be able to buy a physical version of WWE 2K26, but Switch 2 isn’t getting a physical cartridge. Instead, if you buy the physical version of the Switch 2, you’ll only get the box with a code inside to download the game. I’m really not a fan of this practice, as half the point of owning games physically is actually having physical access to your games.

But what’s more important here is the fact that 2K is ditching the last generation of consoles. WWE 2K26 won’t be available on the PS4, Xbox One, or original Nintendo Switch. The last time 2K did this was with WWE 2K18, ditching PS3 and Xbox 360. As a result, the graphics and overall gameplay of 2K18 was noticeably better than 2K17. Hopefully, the same is true for WWE 2K26. This might also confirm the rumor that we’re getting 200 CAW slots in Universe Mode, as the previous limitation was likely due to older hardware.
