Wu-Tang Clan producer arrested after fleeing hearing

One of Wu-Tang Clan's long-time producers has been "re-arrested" after reportedly fleeing a hearing. True Master, who has produced tracks for Ghostface Killah and Ol' Dirty Bastard, was apprehended in New York after 20 police officers descended on his apartment.

True Master, real name Derrick Harris, was first arrested on Tuesday night, according to DNAinfo. Officers charged him with sexually assaulting and beating a 43-year-old "acquaintance", taking him to a nearby courthouse for arraignment. Although the producer was ordered to be held on a $250,000 bond, he apparently slipped away during the custody hand-off, disappearing into the city around 1:15am.

That morning, police appeared at True Master's home, near Columbia University. "There were helicopters zooming and police everywhere," one neighbour recalled. The Wu-Tang man was seen spitting on an officer before he was handcuffed and taken back to the courthouse. There, the 41-year-old was charged with felony escape and harassment, and will be held without bail.

True Master has been working with Wu-Tang Clan since 1995, producing songs on Ol' Dirty Bastard's Return to the 36 Chambers, Ghostface Killah's Ironman and Method Man's Tical 2000: Judgement Day. He has also collaborated with RZA, GZA, Masta Killa, and recently produced KRS-One's 2010 album, Meta-Historical.
