WTC Final: Yashasvi Jaiswal replaces Ruturaj Gaikwad as stand-by opener

MUMBAI: In-form Mumbai opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has found a place in the India squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval in London from June 7-12 as a replacement for stand-by opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who will be unable to travel to the UK for the match as he is getting married on June 2-3.

On Sunday morning, Jaiswal practised with the red ball at Bombay Gymkhana with Zubin Barucha (director of High Performance at the Rajasthan Royals). Since he already holds a UK visa, the 21-year-old will be flying to London tonight itself.

Jaiswal was in blazing form for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, having scored 625 runs in 14 matches@48.07, with one hundred and 5 fifties.

In the Ranji Trophy, he scored 404 runs in five games@45.00, with one fifty and one hundred.

Impressed by Jaiswal's fine run in the IPL, many past greats and experts had batted for his inclusion in the Indian team as soon as possible.
