WTC Final: Injury scare for India as skipper Rohit Sharma hit on left thumb during net session

NEW DELHI: Ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, there is an injury concern for Team India as their captain, Rohit Sharma, sustained an injury to his left thumb while batting during a net session in London.

During the optional session, several key players including Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur did not attend practice. However, Rohit Sharma, KS Bharat, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Umesh Yadav were present.

While batting in the nets, Rohit was hit on his left thumb, prompting him to get it bandaged. Initially, he continued practicing but eventually decided to stop. Later on, the 35-year-old batsman removed the bandage.

The injury scare adds a level of concern for the Indian team, as they aim to compete against Australia in the prestigious final.

The WTC final is scheduled from June 7 to 11 at The Oval in London, a reserve day is also in place if the weather intervenes to spoil the sport.
