THE World Surf League's Newcastle Cup is back in action on Tuesday after conditions demanded an Easter break for competitors.
The Merewether beach event, which began on April 1, was halted on Good Friday when waves failed to give the world's best surfers enough to show off their skills.
Organisers made the call shortly before 7am, confirming that heats would resume.
It was a relief after "super flat" conditions on Monday forced he temporary suspension of competition into a fourth day.
The event window spans until April 11, giving the competition enough time to wait out several days of poor swell.
On Good Friday competitors headed to Redhead after the Merewether break failed to deliver.
