Michael Dawson has joked that his nephew, Joey, is signing for the wrong north London club after the Scunthorpe youngster was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.
The Gunners are said to be keen to snap up the 16-year-old, who this season became the youngest first team player in Scunthorpe history when he took to the field for the Iron against Derby County.
And that will come as bad news to his Nottingham Forest playing Uncle, who after leaving the City Ground in 2005 made over 300 appearances for fierce north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Dawson told TalkSport: “When I saw that rumour the other day I thought: 'He’s signing for the wrong side in north London.'
“He’s 16, he started [as an academy scholar] in July and then got the opportunity at Scunthorpe with Paul Hurst and Chris Doig."

Joey's father, Andy, another Reds academy graduate, never played for Forest but did carve out a long professional career with Scunthorpe and Hull City before remaining at Glanford Park beyond his retirement.
“He’s actually bigger than Andy,” Michael continued.
“He’s good on the ball and as he’s young; if he keeps his head down, keeps working, you never know where that will lead.”
Yet another one to watch from the Dawson family.
