Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to social media and reacted to the news that Luis Campos has left Lille.
The transfer guru was linked with taking up a role at the north London back in May and given his close friendship with head coach Jose Mourinho, speculation regarding a possible reunion is set to resume.
Following the sale of Lille, Campos' exit has now been confirmed.
A statement via the Ligue 1 outfit's official website reads: "Following the change of owner, Gérard Lopez and Luis Campos are leaving the club with immediate effect. Marc Ingla has resigned from his duties as Managing Director but remains on the club's board of directors.
"Merlyn's desire for LOSC is to capitalize on the sporting results achieved in the past seasons and to ensure that this success is sustainable over the long term by building on a strong financial position and a strong management team that will exploit the fundamentals. club, on and off the pitch.
"As part of the new financial strategy, the outstanding debt of LOSC will be significantly reduced and new equity will be injected into the club.
"One of Merlyn's first goals is to build new, experienced and strong leadership within the club.
"For this reason, Merlyn has appointed Olivier Létang, as the new President and CEO of LOSC. Born and raised in Le Mans, Olivier Létang is an extremely experienced football professional, he has successfully held high level positions in leading professional clubs (general manager of Stade de Reims, sports director of Paris Saint-Germain, president of Stade Rennais).
Not too long after the announcement was made, a number of Spurs supporters began getting rather excited about Campos being a free agent.
Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...
Given that Campos is one of the most revered scouts in the modern game having been credited with helping to lure Radamel Falcao, Bernardo Silva, and Joao Moutinho to Monaco, while also helping to unearth the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Nicolas Pepe and Anthony Martial, it's no surprise Spurs fans are keen to see him arrive at the club.
With that said, football.london have previously reported that Spurs only officially appointed Steve Hitchen as their director of football (the title was technical performance director) in September of this year.
