Wrestling queen Icho loses bid for worlds; Kawai goes to Kazakhstan in 57-kg class

Four-time Olympic champion Kaori Icho lost to Rio gold medalist Risako Kawai in a women's 57-kilogram class playoff match in Wako, Saitama Prefecture, on Saturday, losing a bid to participate in the class at the World Championships to be held in Kazakhstan in September.

The playoff was organized because Icho won the All-Japan championships in December last year but Kawai, who won gold in the 63-kilogram class at the Rio de Janeiro Games, took the title in last month's All-Japan invitational.
