WrestleMania fans stranded at MetLife Stadium due to transportation nightmare

Wrestlemania 35 is over, and though there was so much to talk about after an action-packed event that lasted over six hours — from the ending to Brock Lesnar’s loss to Kofi Kingston’s title — social media was filled with wrestling fans who took forever to get home.

Per New Jersey Transit, trains would come every 10 minutes after the event at MetLife Stadium ended, “and then every 15 to 20 minutes as needed.” But according to die-hards standing in the rain, they were stranded for a while until trains finally came. Uber and Lyfts — if they were available at all — were extremely expensive. There were a lot of Fyre Festival jokes made:

It’s past 1 a.m. and 80,000 people are trying to find a way home from MetLife Stadium. Taxis and Ubers are running over $100 at the moment to get back to Manhattan or Brooklyn if you can even find one. Some drivers are walking around the Uber/Lyft area offering rides for $200.

I rather be at the Fyre Festival than to have used the New Jersey transit system. Wrestlemania ended at 12 am… i am still on my way to the hotel.

The service by @NJTRANSIT tonight has been abysmal. It’s bad enough that we were left standing in pouring rain but the show ended around 12:30 and we didn’t get on a train till 2:30am because the trains would sit for ages and not depart, despite no one getting on or off for ages!

Couldn't get an UBER, tried the trains, that was even worse. Then tried UBER again, guy canceled on me. Next guy didnt and I was forever grateful#MetlifeStadium you suck.
