Wren Kitchens buys acres of land in Bristol as retailer focuses on 'growth plans'

A kitchen retailer has bought 3.5 acres of land in Avonmouth, Bristol, for its new transport depot.

Wren Kitchens has acquired the land from Delta Properties at warehouse and distribution development Central Park in Avonmouth.

The company says it is planning to open its depot in 2020, which will create a “number of jobs" in the community.

The site has full planning consent already granted for open storage or new-build warehouse and distribution, meaning no further planning permission is required prior to starting the development.

The investment by Wren is part of the retailer’s wider growth plans and a way to reduce fuel costs and emissions, says Wren property manager Liam Knaggs.

He said: “As Wren continues to significantly expand, we are strategically opening transport depots across the UK to ensure our delivery service continues to be economically efficient and first-class.”

Wren currently has a fleet of over 180 lorries which travel from five depots located in Howden, Barton-upon-Humber, Bristol, Stansted and Larkhall.

Michael Shebson, of Delta Properties, said: “We are delighted to welcome Wren as our latest occupier for this next phase of development. They join Dawsongroup Plc who are creating a Western Hub for their group companies.

“Our infrastructure programme including a new access road, is on schedule, to be completed later this year.

"Discussions with other potential occupiers continue, attracted by the location to the motorway network with the imminent opening of the new M49 junction, and the huge benefits the existing planning consent brings.”

The deal marks the second sale in this new phase of Delta Properties’ developments in Bristol, following sales of space to The Range, Amazon, DHL and Lidl.

Delta Properties announced the first deal at Severn Road with Dawsongroup Plc in July.

Avison Young and Knight Frank acted on behalf of Delta Properties.
