I think we’ve all played those world-builder/level-builder games in the past. Create fun and challenging levels using every obstacle available, and post them online to see players figure them out. On the other hand, many of you will have dabbled in open-world, sandbox games like Guild Wars 2. One server, millions of players. Now imagine combining those two and making it a racing game; that’s exactly what Wreckreation is.
Level-builders are renowned for speedruns, and what better genre to test that on than racing video games? Fortunately for us, players haven’t been shying away from the track creation feature.
With a plethora of entries sent in by players for fun and creative tracks, Three Fields Entertainment is finally seeing its dream come to life. Today, we’ll discuss how the community contributed to bringing this game to fruition by not holding back their innovativeness.
What Is Wreckreation?

Before we dive into the depths of creation, let’s briefly go over what Wreckreation is. Wreckreation is a fast-paced, open-world racing game created by Three Field Entertainment. It was released on October 25, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
The game features a 400-kilometre sandbox area where players are free to do whatever they wish. Partake in races against other players online, wreak havoc on the map with your friends, or (our subject for the day), put your creativity to the test and come up with some insane track ideas.
Three Field Entertainment’s Dream
Giving players the ability to design and actually add to the gameplay is what makes this game special. Not only does this make players feel included and their feedback valued, but it also opens up previously unseen possibilities as players bring their visions to life.
This was the idea TFE had behind Wreckreation, so now let’s take a look at how the community lived up to its expectations.
Custom Tracks Grow In Popularity

Since the game was released in October, players have been testing out different features. As with any new release, it took the community a while to figure out how track creation worked and what prerequisites were required. Reddit threads were super helpful and informational in clearing player doubts.
In one Reddit thread about a Speed Racer-inspired track, it can be seen that game devs themselves were guiding players on how to create and upload custom-made tracks. This was a plus point for the game’s growing popularity as more and more players funnelled in to design their versions of the hardest race tracks imaginable.
As you might have already understood, player creation was one of the driving motivations (no pun intended) for Wreckreation. With fans taking an interest in the MixWorld and Live Mix features, the game’s original dream would never come to fruition. By allowing players to add their own experiences to the game, the community controlled the direction the game would take.
Now, we’ve extensively talked about the direction TFE wanted the game to take and how players helped fulfil that dream. However, what exactly are the features that help in custom track creation? And how are MixWorld and Live World integrated into the game?
MixWorld & Live Mix
You can’t talk about the track editor in Wreckreation without MixWorld, because MixWorld is what allows players to customise their maps. Accessed through the Game DJ menu, MixWorld gives players a 400-kilometre area to permanently edit. They can place stunts, jumps, ramps, or any other available obstacles to make the track as challenging as possible.
This can be done solo or with friends if you want to mix up ideas. Challenge the laws of real-world racing here or create your iconic race tracks to test your friends. The sky is the limit (literally!).
Next, we have the Live Mix feature. If MixWorld was the original track creation process, Live Mix can be considered the editor. Live Mix allows players to add objects to a world to further enhance its uniqueness. Fancy ramps or physics-defying jumps are just what you need to make the map complete.
This can only be done if you have Live Mix permission from the owner of the world. The host must give other players the ‘Guest DJ’ access so they can join the creation process. Remember that the game doesn’t currently support cross-platform gameplay, so you and your friends will need to be on the same platform.
