Wrecked cars left lying on roofs after horror M8 smash as police race to scene

Shocking images of a horror two car smash on the busy M8 show two badly damaged motors lying on their roofs.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the eastbound carriageway near Broxburn, West Lothian, shortly after 2.30pm on Sunday June 6.

The two vehicles collided near to Junction 3 before flipping over with traffic quickly building up in the surrounding area.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene on the M8 on Saturday afternoon (Daily Record)

There are not believed to be any serious injuries however paramedics were also called to attend.

Traffic Scotland reported delays of up to 25 minutes while first responders remained on the roadway.

They tweeted: RTC M8 E/B after J3. Traffic’s getting by but it’s very slow, travel time of 20-25 mins at present.

"Westbound also slow passed the scene.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "We were called at around 2.35pm on Sunday, June 6, to the report of a two car crash on the M8 eastbound, near Junction 3."
