WR N’Keal Harry ‘ecstatic’ to make Bears debut

Receiver N’Keal Harry is poised to make his Bears debut against the Commanders on Thursday night.

Harry was activated off injured reserve on Tuesday after returning to practice the previous week. Harry suffered an ankle injury back on Aug. 6, and he landed on IR before the start of the season.

Harry was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, and he was removed from the injury report with no game designation. Which means he could see his first reps with Chicago, something he’s been itching for over the last couple of months.

“It’s been hard just sitting here watching, especially once I started going to the games and standing on the sidelines,” Harry said, via ESPN. “It just brings you so much closer to the actual game. So I’m excited. I’m ecstatic.”

Harry, who was acquired in a trade with the Patriots this offseason, is another potential weapon for quarterback Justin Fields. The Bears’ receiving corps have been unimpressive, and there aren’t many options outside of Darnell Mooney.

Bears coach Matt Eberflus said they were in “wait and see” mode with Harry ahead of Thursday night’s game. But if Harry can go, the hope is he provides some semblance of a spark.

“Those big guys are open,” Eberflus said. “You can throw a deep pass to him, they’re open and they go get it, go up and climb and go get the ball. Any time we can add another guy like that to the mix, it’s going to create competition and it’s going to create more athletic ability on the football field for our offense.”
