WR Maurice Harris continues to shine at minicamp

On Day 1 of the New England Patriots’ mandatory minicamp, it was wideout Braxton Berrios who stole the show at the crowded position. On Day 2, it was Maurice Harris, who was signed by the Patriots this offseason after starting his career with the Washington Redskins.

Here are some of the comments made by reporters present at minicamp regarding Harris, who stood out because of his hands and versatility.

Really strong day for Maurice Harris, who also looked good yesterday. He caught all five balls thrown his way — including a few nice lunging grabs in traffic — and saw a lot of reps with Brady. Probably the most impressive receiver overall so far this week.

Patriots WR Maurice Harris continues to impress in minicamp. Highpoints the ball and tracks it well in the air. He’s been running with the first group consistently, spending a lot of time in the slot.

In the first 11v11 period, Brady completed three passes – all to Maurice Harris. Harris had a good day. He can line up everywhere – inside and out – and also returns punts

A couple of trends we’re seeing:

– Joe Thuney is still getting consistent snaps at LT when Wynn isn’t involved.

– Maurice Harris has been by far the most impressive new pass catcher. Dontrelle Inman not much of a factor.

– Stidham took a handful of second team snaps in 11s.

Maurice Harris had another strong day at wide receiver. He’s stood out the most among new veteran WRs.

Harris’ ability to play outside and in the slot could give him the edge over other receivers on the roster who can only do one or the other. It’s worth keeping an eye on how far up the depth chart he can climb throughout the summer.
