WR Jordy Nelson officially retires as member of Packers

Receiver Jordy Nelson officially retired from the NFL as a member of the Green Bay Packers, the team announced Sunday.

Nelson exits the NFL after playing 10 seasons with the Packers. He finished his career in Green Bay ranked third in team history in catches, fifth in receiving yards and second in touchdown catches.

The Packers made Nelson a second-round pick in the 2008 NFL draft. He won a Super Bowl at the end of the 2010 season, made the Pro Bowl and All-Pro teams in 2014 and won the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award in 2016, all while developing into one of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite and most-trusted targets.

The Packers released Nelson following the 2017 season. He finished his career playing one season with the Oakland Raiders.

Nelson joins four other notable former Packers to retire this offseason: Julius Peppers, John Kuhn, Josh Sitton and T.J. Lang.

Nelson will be available to speak to the media before Tuesday’s practice at 9:30 a.m.
