The Arizona Cardinals have suffered another significant injury loss. They lose receiver DeAndre Hopkins for the second time this season and this time he is out for the rest of the regular season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler.
Hopkins exited the Cardinals’ 30-23 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the final minutes. It was initially not believed to be serious but he had an MRI done Tuesday and then went for a second opinion.
According to Schefter, Hopkins has a knee sprain and will miss at least the final four games of the regular season. The team hopes he can return some time during the playoffs.
Schefter also reports that Hopkins could need knee surgery. That is what the second opinion is for. Regardless, it is believed that he will not be able to play in the Cardinals’ final four games of the regular season.
Hopkins missed three games with a hamstring injury. He had only missed two games in his career prior to this season.
If his season is over, he finishes with career-lows in receptions and receiving yards. He caught 42 passes for 572 yards and eight touchdowns.
It would make sense for the Cardinals to place him on injured reserve in the meantime.
