WR Davante Adams, S Darnell Savage return to Packers practice Wednesday

Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams took a step forward in his recovery from a turf toe injury on Wednesday when he participated in the stretching period of the walkthrough practice.

According to reporters in Green Bay, Adams was with the team for warmups before exiting the practice field to continue to rehab indoors at the Don Hutson Center.

Adams, who was injured against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 26, has missed the last three games.

The Packers also returned rookie safety Darnell Savage (ankle) and tight end Robert Tonyan (hip), both of whom haven’t played since suffering injuries on Oct. 5 in Dallas.

Mike Pettine’s defense has missed Savage, a fast, window-closing safety who was instrumental to the Packers covering the middle of the field during the first five weeks. His potential return Sunday night could be huge considering the defense’s matchup looming with Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce.

Tonyan, the team’s third tight end, has four catches for 66 yards in 2019.

Adams’ availability for Sunday night’s showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs remains uncertain, but signs from the last week suggest he could be nearing a return. Last Thursday, Adams said he felt “a million times better,” although the Packers still held him out of Sunday’s win over the Oakland Raiders.

Green Bay is 3-0 and averaging 33.0 points per game without Adams, the team’s two-time Pro Bowl receiver.

The Packers will release the first injury report of the week later Wednesday.
