WR Christian Kirk must be 100 percent to play vs. Giants

Arizona Cardinals receiver Christian Kirk has missed the last two games with an ankle injury. Up until this past Monday, what exactly sort of injury he has been dealing with wasn’t known, but head coach Kliff Kingsbury let it slip on Monday when talking to reporters that Kirk has a high ankle sprain.

He was limited in practice all last week and opened this week limited on Wednesday.

It sounds like he still has a ways to go before he can play.

“He’s got to be 100 percent,” Kingsbury told reporters Wednesday. “He was moving straight ahead I thought really well and he’s progressed. But to be at his best and do what he does on the field he’s got to be able to cut and move and we don’t want to put him out there until he feels 100 percent. He’s not to that point yet. Until he is, we won’t have him in the game.”

Kingsbury noted Kirk is “closer than he was last week” and he has made “huge strides” but he did cast a little doubt. “I’m not sure if he’ll play or not,” he said.

He made one thing clear without giving details. As of Wednesday, “it’s not 100 percent.”

The Cardinals take on the New York Giants this weekend, a team that has been without talented running back Saquon Barkley with a high ankle sprain. It appears he will be on the field Sunday to play the Cardinals unless there are setbacks. He missed three weeks and recovered quickly.

Based on that, it would appear more unlikely than likely that Kirk will sit out at least one more week.
