WR Calvin Ridley named Falcons’ most promising youngster

The Falcons have more offensive weapons than just about any team in the league other than the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tight end Austin Hooper is Atlanta’s leading receiver through six games, but Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Mohamed Sanu aren’t far behind.

Bleacher report released an article naming every NFL team’s most promising youngster, with Ridley taking the honor for the Falcons. Kristopher Knox wrote the following about Atlanta’s second-year wide receiver:

Ridley burst onto the scene as a rookie, catching six touchdown passes in his first four games. He cooled off a bit after that but still produced 821 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Through Week 6 as a sophomore, Ridley has racked up 343 yards and four touchdowns, putting him on pace for 915 yards and another 11 scores.

Ridley does not get a high volume of targets due to quarterback Matt Ryan’s tendency to spread the ball around, but he can do a lot in the limited chances he does get.

With Julio Jones locked up for the next four seasons, the Falcons should have a one-two punch at receiver that rivals any duo in the NFL for years to come.
