WR Adam Humphries receives criticism from Colin Cowherd on choosing Titans over Patriots

The Tennessee Titans weren’t the only team trying to get in on former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Adam Humphries this offseason.

The New England Patriots also extended an offer to the wideout — one he should have taken advantage of according to Colin Cowherd.

Cowherd believes the opportunity in New England is much more stable than what is currently going on in Nashville.

“Adam Humphries had a chance to be a part of a guarantee and he chose Marcus Mariota and the Titans,” Cowherd said this week on FS1’s “The Herd.” “…Adam Humphries, good kid, chose Tennessee over that. When you make a career move, don’t just consider yourself. Is the world changing? Because if there’s a wave — and I watch these on Saturday mornings with a cup of coffee — grab your board and ride it. The wave of New England is not done yet. The wave for Tennessee doesn’t even exist.”

Humphries obviously doesn’t see the situation this way, though, and made a recent remark about how quarterback Tom Brady’s age was a factor in passing on the Patriots.

“Obviously, he’s the G.O.A.T. That’s that simple,” Humphries told The Athletic of Brady. “But there’s so much that factors into a decision. It was a four-year deal. Who knows how many (years) he’s got left? There’s a lot that goes into it.”

Humphries has the potential to make an impact as a slot receiver in Tennessee, and it will certainly be interesting to watch him transition into a larger role in 2019.
