WPL: Richa Ghosh, Sabbhineni Meghana fifties take RCB to 157/6 against UP Warriorz

NEW DELHI: Fine fifties by Richa Ghosh and Sabbhineni Meghana propelled Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to a competitive total of 157 for six on a slightly challenging pitch against UP Warriorz in a Women's Premier League (WPL) match in Bengaluru on Saturday.

Meghana (53, 44 balls, 7x4, 1x6) and Richa (62, 37 balls, 12x4) played crucial roles in the middle order, contributing a partnership of 71 runs for the fourth wicket in 50 balls. This partnership was instrumental in RCB's recovery after a shaky start at 54 for three in 7.5 overs, having been asked to bat first.

Meghana and Richa took their time to settle into their partnership, displaying resilience and composure. Once they found their rhythm, the duo played aggressive yet calculated cricket, steering RCB to a competitive total.

Meghana, who had a couple of let-offs during her innings, capitalized on the opportunities to play some impressive shots, including a thumping loft over extra cover for a six off left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad.

The partnership was eventually broken when Meghana was stumped by Alyssa Healy off Gayakwad's bowling. Despite the loss of wickets early in the innings, RCB managed to post a challenging total, thanks to the contributions from Ghosh and Meghana.

The match showcased the significance of the partnership between Ghosh and Meghana, who adapted well to the conditions and provided the necessary impetus to RCB's innings.
