Following his move from Burnley, via Besiktas, earlier this month, Wout Weghorst has now been added to the Manchester United squad on FIFA 23.
Weghorst joined United on January 13, with the Reds paying a £2.6 million fee to Turkish side Besiktas in order to seal his season-long loan move from Burnley. Since Cristiano Ronaldo's high-profile departure back in November, the Reds have been a bit short up top, and this signing has certainly helped to fill the void.
The Dutch striker has made a promising start to his Old Trafford spell, scoring his first goal for the club in the Reds' 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup, and has generally impressed with his hold-up play and pressing ability.
So, now he's been added to the United squad on FIFA 23, how does Weghorst compare to the rest of the squad? And, what are his best attributes? Let's take a look.
Wout Weghorst on FIFA 23
Following a FIFA 23 database update on January 25, Weghorst has now been added to the United squad on the game, but you may have to update your squads before he's visible.
The 30-year-old has an overall rating of 79 out of 99 on FIFA 23, which is pretty decent compared to the rest of the squad, with players like Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot having very similar ratings. But comparing him to the highest-rated players in the squad, such as Casemiro (89), David De Gea (87), Bruno Fernandes (86), Raphael Varane (86) and Marcus Rashford (83), it's clear that he's not quite at their level, on FIFA 23 anyway!
His best attributes, according to FIFA 23, are his strength (90), heading accuracy (90), aggression (85), stamina (84), shot power (84), reactions (81), composure (81), positioning (80), volleys (80), ball control (79), jumping (79) and finishing (78). No United player has more strength than Weghorst on FIFA 23, with Casemiro and Harry Maguire matching his 90 rating, whilst the former Burnley striker also boasts the highest heading accuracy in the squad, with only Varane (85) able to be close to that level.
But in terms of finishing, which is ultimately what strikers are judged on, the former Wolfsburg forward has only the fourth-best finishing attribute in the squad, behind Fernandes (83), Rashford (81) and Martial (79), although he beats Antony (76), Jadon Sancho (75) and Christian Eriksen (72).
What Weghorst does have is a unique set of attributes and a completely different profile to what United had before, and from what we've seen of him in a Reds shirt so far, that could be just what Erik ten Hag's side needs for the final few months of the season.
