'Wounding' arrest after man found with head, back and face injuries in Bootle flat

Two suspects were arrested after a man was found with serious injuries in a Bootle flat.

Emergency services were called to Bedford Road on Friday afternoon, discovering a man with head, back and face wounds.

An investigation was launched, with police cordoning off the property and forensics officers called in to examine the scene.

Merseyside Police has confirmed inquiries have since led to the arrests of a man and a woman in connection with the incident.

A 35-year-old man has been questioned on suspicion of wounding with intent and a 29-year-old woman has been questioned on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Both have since been released on conditional bail, pending further police inquiries.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

He remained in hospital on Monday morning. Merseyside Police said he was in a stable condition.
