'Wouldn't let him manage a Greggs' - Leeds United fans have this message as Neil Warnock leaves Cardiff City

Cardiff City have parted company with manager Neil Warnock – and Leeds United fans have been revelling in their former boss’ departure.

The 70-year-old leaves the Bluebirds after over three years in charge, having guided them to the Premier League in 2018 before relegation back to the Championship earlier this year.

The Welsh club have struggled upon their return to the second tier, with yesterday’s defeat to Bristol City leaving them 14th in the table.

Nevertheless, Cardiff fans have been sharing their messages of thanks to Warnock upon the news of his departure, with the man himself including a heartfelt message in the club’s announcement.

"I am leaving my beloved Bluebirds after over three years of which have been some of the best days in my long football career," Warnock said.

"It is a shared belief that this is the right time for a new voice as we believe this squad of players is more than capable of getting success."

Leeds fans, however, haven’t quite shared the same sentiments.

Warnock was in charge at Elland Road for just over a year, finishing 14th in the 2012/13 season before leaving the following season with the club five points off the relegation zone in the Championship.

The former Sheffield United manager isn’t remembered too fondly at United, and fans’ reaction to today’s news from Cardiff bears that out.

“One half of me is really sad about this; Cardiff were no hopers with his archaic brand of hoofball,” Patrick Hall wrote on Twitter.

“The other is delighted this cretin will likely never be a manager again. I hated every second of his tenure at #LUFC, I’ve never been more tempted to stop going than his time here.”

Samuel added: “Worst manager Leeds ever had and I’m surprised he lasted as long.”
