The team behind one of Leeds' most popular breweries hiked to the top of Ben Nevis to make the UK's most expensive beer, which costs an eye-watering £1,000 for a 330ml bottle.
The staggering price tag has been attached to Northern Monk's latest creation, Ben Nevis, a barrel aged imperial stout which packs a punch at 11 per cent.
Only 50 bottles have been made, but despite the astronomical price a few have already been sold to beer fanatics at a special launch event in Manchester.
All of the proceeds from sales will go towards the For the North Foundation, a scheme launched by Northern Monk which offers £5,000 grants to support projects across the north.
How was the beer made?
Northern Monk was founded in Holbeck in 2013, but the team headed north of the border for their latest creation.
Four members of staff hiked to the top of Ben Nevis during the summer, carrying 90kg of equipment 4,000 feet above sea level to the top of Britain's highest peak.
Natural ingredients from the mountainside, including blaeberries, were foraged on the long walk before the team made the brew at the summit.
It was then carried back down and aged for two months in a whisky cask from the Ben Nevis Whisky Distillery in Fort William.
