A historic RTE News clip has emerged on social media that proves just how physical attraction was perceived over 50 years ago.
According to Irish women interviewed in 1967, attraction to a man was about much more than just good looks.
They were asked what preference of physical build they found attractive - and it's bad news for men with big muscles.
Many of the women insisted that they found big muscles to be "revolting" or "disgusting" looking and said they liked to take into account personality as well as other character traits instead.
RTE reporter Cathal O’Shannon put the question to the women, saying: "What do you look for in a man, physically?"
Strong character
The first woman replied: "I like a man to be bigger than me and to have a strong character, someone who has a stronger character than I have."

"No, I don't like a man who is too preoccupied with his own masculinity," the woman replied.
"What about skinny fellows?" asked the reporter.
"Skinny fellows are okay depending on their character," she said.
Musical
Another woman answered the question saying she valued a man who was musical over anything else.
"I'm very attracted to men who are able to sing and play music, and who are interested in music and singing," she said.
"Do they have to be physically big men?" asked the reporter.
"Oh no, not necessarily," she replied. "I like people who are slim and trim."
Six-foot in height
One woman said she was attracted to a "well-proportioned" man but thought men with big muscles were "revolting".
"I like a well-proportioned man, around six-foot in height and not too lean and not too fat," she said.
"Does he have to be a fellow with a lot of muscle?" asked the reporter.
"Oh no, I find those muscular men rather revolting to look at," she replied.
Slim and athletic
Another echoed the anti-muscular sentiment, calling muscly men "Apollo type specimens" which she though were "disgusting looking" and looked like something you would find in a zoo.
"I don't go out with a specific idea in mind, but I do find that I think certain people are attractive and they're usually fairly slim and athletic type people," she said.
"But they're not enormous, big Apollo type specimens of humanity which I find rather disgusting looking."
"Why do you find this so?" asked the reporter.
"The problem is, you go to an Apollo place and start doing bodybuilding, and so on, is that you will get overweight or so developed that you will look rather like what you expect to see in a zoo for example," she answered.
Not too heavy
Another woman said: "I like them to be taller than me, not too heavy."
"What about muscles?" the reporter asked her.
"No, muscles would be inclined to put me off. Too much, a certain amount [is] okay," she said.
"I prefer personality"
One woman said she valued personality over looks but said that she found Irish men to be "brawny and ugly looking."
"Personally, I don't really go for the physical point of view at all, I prefer personality," she said. "But I prefer a man to be anywhere between 5' 10" to 6' and not very muscly.
"I think most Irish men are very brawny and you know, ugly looking."
And one woman said she thought muscular men looked "overfed" and instead went for men who looked like the reporter.
"I don't like them too fat or muscular, I think it looks a bit vulgar and overfed," she said.
"I like them thin and well-built, not too small... a bit like you."
