Would the Redskins trade Jordan Reed?

Tight end is quietly one of the better positions on the Washington Redskins roster going into 2019.

Naturally, Jordan Reed is the first name that comes to mind when thinking about the depth chart there — but the depth could mean other teams might think along the same lines.

For NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks, the depth there inspired him to list Reed as a trade idea for a team like the Buffalo Bills, who are currently trying to get the most out of developing passer Josh Allen:

“Reed would thrive in that role as a dynamic “flex” tight end with outstanding quickness, agility and route-running skills. With third-round pick Dawson Knox and seventh-round pick Tommy Sweeney serving as young apprentices for the Bills, the addition of an established playmaker at tight end could help accelerate Allen’s growth as a franchise quarterback.”

It’s not a terrible idea for the Redskins, especially if they don’t intend on starting Dwayne Haskins next year anyway. Reed missed three games last year and 10 the year prior. He has yet to play in a full 16-game season and is a cap hit of $9 million or more in each of the next three seasons.

With a veteran like Vernon Davis still on the roster flanked by interesting risers such as Jeremy Sprinkle and Donald Parham, if not others, the Redskins might find the idea of a move hard to ignore if a team like Buffalo gives them a ring.
