Would Redskins consider moving Adrian Peterson?

The NFL trade deadline is something that should start to creep into the minds of teams like the Washington Redskins.

Meaning, winless teams who don’t have much of a chance at the playoffs and might want to start selling off assets.

Assets, meaning perhaps a running back like Adrian Peterson.

That’s in line with the thinking of a new trade block piece from Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox:

A team looking for a physical, run-first back could have a lot of use for Peterson, though, especially late in the season. The Green Bay Packers, for example, could use a physical complement to their running game, which is averaging just 3.5 yards per carry.

And it’s impossible to argue. If Derris Guice didn’t suffer an injury, we would’ve had this conversation much sooner — especially after that weird spat early in the season where Jay Gruden made AP inactive.

AP might as well be inactive too given the lack of a running game. Peterson has only carried the ball 33 times over three games, averaging 2.7 yards per carry.

At this pace and given the trajectory of the season, not to mention the early-season drama of AP being inactive, a contender calling with a draft asset would be hard for the Redskins to ignore.
