Would it be a felony to replace Nick Ross on Crimewatch?

As the BBC decides whether or not to replace Nick Ross on Crimewatch, we'd like to ask you who you think would make the best replacement in a new double act with Fiona Bruce...and who would give you nightmares?

Or maybe you think nobody at all should take over. The BBC has said today that Bruce, will continue to front the series but has not yet made a decision to replace Ross. Should they?

If they do opt for someone (presenting the whole show solo would be quite a burden) what about that comfy BBC Breakfast chappie Dermot Murnaghan?

Or someone a little, dare I say it, lightweight, like Jamie Theakston? Or what about Donal MacIntyre? Anyone else? There's no real reason why there couldn't be an all-female line-up in the hunt for villains.... What about Juliet Morris (last seen on Countryfile) leading the fight for truth and justice with Fiona? Or Dawn French?

OK, probably not the last one. But as for Ross, he appears to be pretty miffed about the circumstances of his departure- telling MediaGuardian.co.uk that he chose to resign after the production team planned to make changes to the programme without informing him.

He has fronted Crimewatch since its pilot in 1983 and it's hard not to wish him well. After all he was immensely brave and dignified during the nasty ordeal following the horrific murder of his original co-presenter, Jill Dando, in April 1999.

But will you miss him?
