'Would have played him in goal!' - Arsenal fans react to Unai Emery's shock Fabinho admission

Unai Emery's comments about his first transfer window as Arsenal head coach has got supporters talking.

The former Valencia, Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain boss succeeded Arsene Wenger at the helm in the summer of 2018 and oversaw five new arrivals at the Emirates Stadium before the season got underway.

Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi were all recruited as the north London outfit attempted to seal a return to the Champions League.

However, Fabinho was also a target for Emery prior to the Brazilian making the switch to Liverpool from AS Monaco a couple of days after the 2018 Champions League final.

And the Arsenal boss is hoping to use the midfielder as an example to a couple of players in his squad.

When making a comparison between the Liverpool star and the Gunners' club record signing Nicolas Pepe, the Spaniard made a rather surprise revelation.

"We spend money with Pepe," Emery said. "Pepe needs time to adapt to the Premier League. "For example, in France I love a lot Fabinho. He was in Monaco and I wanted to sign for PSG.

"When I arrived here, also his name was on the table to achieve to sign him, but he signed for Liverpool.

"The first six months he didn't play, it was adaptation. But now he is amazing and I want the same with Ceballos, with Pepe."
