WoSFL: Pollok probably our biggest test yet, says Kilwinning Rangers No2 Gavin Friels

Kilwinning Rangers assistant manager Gavin Friels reckons facing high-flying Pollok tomorrow will be a good barometer for his side’s Premier Division title credentials.

The Buffs head to Newlandsfield in fourth place just one point behind the hosts in third and looking to close the gap on leaders Auchinleck Talbot who are on senior Scottish Cup duty.

And Friels said: “It’s probably the biggest game so far, especially away from home.

“Darvel was a big game but that was early in the season when you can get away with it. This is the real nitty gritty now.

“I think Pollok, Clydebank, Auchinleck, Darvel and ourselves are the five who are going to be at the forefront.

“So games against them are vital for us. It’s not must-win but we need to see where we’re sitting against these teams.

“Pollok had a slow start but it looks like they’re getting a bit of momentum going. They’ve had a couple of good results.

“We’re going up there to win, no question.

“I think looking at the two teams we should be dominant in the game but we have to be wary that they’re at home, have a wee bit momentum and will have the crowd behind them.”
