A THORNTON swimming school has become one of the latest Hunter businesses informed it may have become a COVID exposure site as the virus makes it way into the region.
Jump N Swim Academy, which notes that it has spent 15 years teaching the region's babies and toddlers to swim, posted on social media on Thursday evening that health officials had advised two cases attended the school on Wednesday, August 4, between 5pm and 5.30pm.
The swim school had already announced it would close during the Hunter's one-week lockdown when it shared the potential exposure news.
"This is the worst news ever and we hope that the children who were tested positive are ok and get well soon," the business said on social media.
"Unfortunately due to the staff members that were in the pool and have to isolate for 14 days we will have too close for two weeks."
The business said any children, guardians and/or staff on the pool deck or in the water during the window were considered close contacts. That means they are required to be tested and isolate for 14 days by law.
Anyone who was in the reception area is considered a casual contact, and must get tested then isolate until they receive a negative result.
"Any children, guardians or staff who were at the centre between 4:30-5pm and 5:30-6pm are considered and casual contacts," the business said in its statement.
"You will need to be tested and isolate until a negative result is given.
"Casual contacts will need to be retested on Monday 9th August."
