Feb. 01--Though Chanda Havard's cooking skills steadily improved each week on "Worst Cooks in America," the Chicago-area real estate agent looked doomed when she picked up a knife to fillet a fish in Sunday's episode.
"You're going to give this fish a nervous breakdown and it's already dead," Chef Anne Burrell told Havard.
Havard, 37, and Holgie Forrester, 67, were cut from the show after struggling with their knife cuts in a challenge to cook fish and chips. Both made it into the top six of the Food Network competition, which allows terrible cooks to learn recipes and techniques from Burrell and Chef Tyler Florence. The contestant who serves the best meal in the finale wins $25,000.
In a Food Network interview after her elimination, Havard said she didn't have any regrets except to take better notes during the cooking demonstrations before challenges.
Havard, who has lived in Dolton and Gary, said she has learned to prep her dishes before cooking and plans to make more meals at home.
"I think I'm a chef now. So, I will definitely be cooking again when I go home, and there's a lot of stuff that I need to buy. So, it's going to be expensive for a little while, but I'm going to buy some things that we used in the kitchen that I really think I'm going to need, and I will cook," Havard said.
"Worst Cooks in America" airs 8 p.m. Sundays. Ginny Meerman, Lawrence Crawford, Nick Slater and Taylor Hooper are vying for the Season 8 title.
