Worship Khanna: I was bullied a lot for my name in school, but now I like my name

Actor Worship Khanna has a unique name and whoever hears it for the first time, ends up asking him about it commenting on it. He has to then explain to them that it is indeed his real name.

Talking about how his parents come across the name, the Ishq Subhan Allah actor says, "I have asked my parents several times how they decided on this name for me. But my mother says that there was no such planned name in their minds and randomly my mother''s younger sister suggested it. She said Worship would be good and explained that the meaning of the word is ibaadat. That's why mother loved the name and decided to go ahead with it. It's a very different name and I am aware of that. But I love it. And it helps me in this industry too. People who know me, don't forget my name because of its uniqueness."

But when he was in school, it wasn't easy. He was often been bullied for his name. Worship recounts, "During my school days, kids would make fun of my name and I used to feel very bad then. Once I went home and told my mother that I wanted to change my name to Atharva. I decided upon this name because I felt that my classmates wouldn't trouble me anymore. But my parents didn't agree to it. Now I am glad for that. Today, I really like my name and the fact that it so different. I want to become successful enough and reach a point where everyone knows me by my name."

On the work front, meanwhile, the actor was last seen in the TV show Meri Doli Mere Angana. Currently, he is auditioning for roles. "I want to do both, web shows and TV serials, and grow as a performer," he says.
