'Worse than mine' - Gabriel Agbonlahor criticises Roberto Firmino with Liverpool transfer verdict

Gabriel Agbonlahor has once again criticised the transfer business conducted by Liverpool this summer.

The Reds opted to bring in just one first-team player during the summer, with Ibrahima Konate coming in from RB Leipzig.

Throughout the summer there was plenty of talk of potential new forwards who could join the club, but no further additions were made in the closing stages of the window.

Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has argued that Liverpool needed to sign a new forward, and used Roberto Firmino’s form to make his point.

Firmino has scored one goal so far this season, but his output did drop last season where he managed just nine in the Premier League.

Speaking on Talksport, Agbonlahor argued why Firmino’s lack of goals was one reason why Liverpool needed to target a new forward this summer.

"They will be in a race, but for me, they won't win it because they have missed out this transfer window by not bringing in another attacking player.

"Firmino's strike-rate is worse than mine, and that's saying something. He is injured now.

"If you ask Liverpool fans, they will say the same. If you ask ex-Liverpool players, they will say the same.”
