Worse than Huddersfield, Derby and Stoke? Nottingham misses out on top 10 in poll of best nights out in the UK

Nottingham has been ranked as only the 14th best night out for students in the UK - losing out to Huddersfield, Derby and Preston.

Stoke-on-Trent and York also feature higher up on the bizarre survey which ranked 61 university towns or cities according to a range of factors.

They comprised of 'nightlife options', 'price of a drink', 'price of a taxi (start)', 'price of a taxi (1km)', 'safety index', and 'number of takeaways'.

Huddersfield ranked in first position and Derby came second.

Nottingham scored an overall points score of 56.28, compared to Derby's 62.07, and scoring below Derby when it came to the number of nightlife options.

With two large universities, Nottingham is home to tens of thousands of students, so it might come as a surprise to some that the city doesn't feature more prominently on this ranking.
