'Worries me' - Former boss on Nottingham Forest, West Brom and Leeds United's promotion hopes

Former Nottingham Forest boss Steve McClaren has suggested where his old club are not as good as their promotion rivals.

The Reds are currently one of a number of clubs chasing promotion to the Premier League, and currently lie in fourth place in the Sky Bet Championship table.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side are six points adrift of their automatic promotion spots, which is occupied by West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United.

McClaren was appointed Forest boss in the summer of 2011, but lasted only 13 games in charge and left the club that October to be replaced by Steve Cotterill.

The former England boss reckons Forest have only one way of playing, and are not as varied in their tactics as West Brom or Leeds.

“That worries me a bit little bit because that’s kind of all Forest are,” McClaren told Sky Sports News on Wednesday.

“I think they are more than that, they can play more football. The likes of West Brom, Leeds can do both.

“They can keep possession, but also cannot keep possession, defend and also in transition. They have got everything, but Forest are a bit one way to win, and they are doing it very well, they are getting results.”
