Worried residents offered advice on fuel bills

Residents worried about their fuel bills can get free advice at an energy event held in Newmains.

Home Energy Scotland staff will be offering their expertise at the NCT Centre on Thursday, May 30, from 11am to 2pm.

Murdostoun councillor Cameron McManus is hosting the event and hopes home owners will take the opportunity and get expert advice.

He said: “This event is to help families in my ward the opportunity to save money on their gas and electricity prices.

“Recent statistics reveal that one in four households in Scotland are fuel poor households which in NLC increases to one in three. This is not acceptable in these modern times.

“As a local councillor I want to help as many constituents as I can to save money and get out of fuel poverty.

“After hearing of the work done by Home Energy Scotland, funded by the Scottish Government, and work with public and community groups to ease energy poverty, I thought that hosting a free event would be a good start.”
