Worried Love Island fans call for producers to intervene over fears Leah is 'depressed'

Love Island fans have called for producers to intervene after fearing Leah Taylor is depressed.

The 27-year-old social media marketer from Manchester turned heads when she entered the villa as a bombshell last week.

But in Sunday night’s episode viewers saw her break down in tears over the way she has been treated by some of the boys.

In an emotional scene Leah was comforted by theatre star Molly after revealing she was upset when Sammy appeared to refer to her as a ‘test’ and recoupled with Jess instead.

Leah also looked gutted when she was forced to couple up with Mitchel, who gave one of the reasons for choosing her as having a 'good body'.

Speaking through floods of tears about Sammy, Leah said: “He has been flirting with me a lot but he didn’t even say he preferred Jess. He has handled it so badly.

“I feel really upset. I’m not a test. I’m a human being. He hasn’t been honest with Jess about how open he was with me.”

Later on in the ITVBe dating show Leah confronted Sammy, who chose to couple up with Jess instead of her despite them flirting for days.

But the conversation didn’t go as well as Leah had hoped when Sammy turned round and said: ”I don't see how you being upset is my problem.”

After a few minutes chatting, Sammy eventually apologised – but Jess wasn’t happy when she found out what her man had really been up to.

In a heated exchange, Jess told Sammy he had led Leah on and was now reconsidering her own future with him.

Both their fellow Islanders and viewers were quick to speculate that Sammy had only picked Jess because she was popular with the public after he ended up being one of the least favourites in a fan poll.

Whether it was a tactical move or not remains to be seen, but Love Island fans have started to express their concern for Leah on Twitter.

One fan said: “Mental health team need to go bring Leah in for a chat, sis looks depressed #LoveIsland.”

“Like she actually looks so sad man,” a second wrote.

A third said: “I feel like she hasn’t felt fully comfortable since entering the villa and this episode made things worse, I hope she’s okay.”

Referring to how the boys had treated Leah, a fourth fan commented: “They were all over her in the beginning and then panicked and just chucked her.”

A fifth viewer said: “I actually feel really uncomfortable for Leah. She is being treated like meat by these men, two of whom were talking about her like a THING, not a person. Imagine a man coming onto you then calling you a test and another man saying he likes your body? I’d feel so gross.”

While a sixth added: “Nah Sammy. He’s gaslighting Jess and Leah so much #LoveIsland.”

Love Island has extensive protocols in place and offers 'ongoing support before, during and after filming on the show'.

All Islanders complete training and guidance across a range of topics before entering the villa, including mutually respectful behaviour in relationships and behaviour patterns associated with controlling and coercive behaviour.

While a registered mental health professional is 'engaged throughout the whole series – from pre-filming to aftercare'.
