Worried Durham mum creates protective desk screens to keep children safe if they return to schools

A County Durham mother has come up with a way to keep her children safe from the spread of Covid-19 once schools return.

Louise Stephenson, who lives in Witton Gilbert, has created child-friendly protective screens for desks to help keep children and teachers in the classroom.

The screens are created in a range of designs and colours, with a Perspex window allowing the child to see into the classroom while being protected.

The mother of three, who's the Managing Director for Where The Trade Buys for the North, came up with the idea after she was worried about her 11-year-old son, Harry, returning to school.

Louise said: “There are parents around the country who will have the same concerns about the fact their children may be returning to school in the near future."

“So I worked with our team on the idea and we have come up with a range of stylish design templates which people can choose from, or we can work with a school to create the dividers to their specifications. I think these will offer a really fun, practical, and safe solution to a problem that many of us are worrying about," she added.

As the dividers are made out of Correx, a durable board, they can also be wiped clean and are easily packed away or disposed of.

The company is planning to create bespoke designs for the dividers. They also plan to work with schools with some designs being personalised with specific information or a school logo.

The company has also produced a range of desk dividers suitable for use in offices, which also be personalised.
