Worlde alternatives you might want to try as puzzle game takes world by storm

If one puzzle per day is just not cutting it then you may want to give some Wordle alternatives a go.

Launched back in October last year, Wordle has since gone viral with as many as three million users playing every single day.

Simply, the game asks you to identify a single five-letter word.

With the aim to fill in all the blank grid space, the game gives you clues after each turn by highlighting the correct letters in the correct position in green, letters that are in the word but not quite in the right place in yellow and letters not in the puzzle turn grey.

But with just one puzzle per day, the game has left many wanting more.

Thanks to HullLive, here are some other brain teasing games you may want to try and tackle.

From more word path problems to maths challenges and geography, there is a little bit of something for everyone...

Squabble

You can compete against others in Squabble (Squabble)

Squabble is Wordle with extras - with this one you can take on other people to compete against. You need to be quick and you still only have six attempts to find the five letter word.

You have hit points that slowly disappear and you lose more for incorrect guesses. Once they have all gone or you have run out of guesses you are out.

There are two modes - Blitz for two to five players or Squabble Royale for six to 99 players. Games continue until you are the last man standing. This game is available on any browser.

Word Path

Word Path is a new twist on word search games with words hidden in a grid in a twisting path. (Word Path)

Word Path is a new twist on word search games with words hidden in a grid in a twisting path. Created by Puzzle Page and Picture Cross, the challenge is to work out each word based on the puzzle's theme, join the letters on the grid and complete the path.

Every successfully completed puzzle opens a new part of the journey. There are hundreds of puzzles to have a go at. Available on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Wordus

Wordus is similar to Wordle (Wordus)

Wordus is ideal for any fans of puzzles whether they are word games, riddles or brain training. Very much like Wordle you have six goes to find the five letter word with a similar method of showing how close you are getting - green means the right letter in the right place while orange tells you the letter is correct but you need to move it. Black means you are way off mark. Available on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Nerdle

Why not give Nerdle a go? (Nerdle)

Like Wordle but with maths. Invented by British data scientist Richard Mann after his teenage daughter said she wished there was a Wordle for "maths nerds".

The aim is to guess the Nerdle in six goes by guessing the "word" that fills the eight tiles.

As in Wordle the colour of the tiles changes to let you know if you have the number correct and if it is in the correct place.

Lingo

Another guess the word game - this time based on the ITV show format.

Your aim it to guess the five letter words, default version, or other options of four and six words are available. You have to guess four letter words in four tries, five in five and six in six attempts.

There are options of a time limit where you guess as many words as possible in five minutes or without time restrictions.

Available on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Wordful

Wordful is a bit more like a wordsearch puzzle. (Wordlful)

This is an easy to understand puzzle game which starts off with simple levels, getting increasingly hard with more and more words to find.

You play the game a bit like a wordsearch puzzle - looking for words in a grid of letters then swiping your finger over them.

Words can be horozontal, vertical, diagonal, forwards or backwards - available on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Lordle of the Rings

Lordle of the Rings answers all come from the Lord of the Rings (Lordle)

Perfect for all you Tolkein fans out there. Every one of the five letter words you are trying to find are in the Lord of the Rings text.

Even places and names are fair game in this one. it is on any web browser - try it here

Worldle

Fancy a geography test? (Worldle)

Like Wordle but instead of words you have to identify a country just from its shape. Each guess tells you how close you are to the answer in kilometers and what direction the answer is in from the country you guessed.

In theory that should help you eventually reach the correct destination. It is perfect for those wanting to brush up on their geography - as well as those who just want to show just how well they know the world.

There is a handy autocomplete as well which means perfect spelling will not stop you getting to the goal.

Absurdle

Absurdle tries to avoid giving you the answer (Absurdle.)

This is perfect for those who fancy something a bit different. Here the game tries to avoid giving you the answer.

Rather than picking a word for you to discover it instead uses your guesses to reduce its list of words.

It might not be as straightforward as it sounds though as the final word might not even have a letter it said was correct from one of your earlier guesses.

The good news is you can keep going as long as you want but the best you can do it in is four guesses.

Lewdle

Now this one is not for the easily offended - as it says on its own homepage: "Lewdle is a game about rude words. If you're likely to be offended by the use of profanity, vulgarity or obscenity, go play Wordle instead!"

That pretty much sums it up - it is the same as Wordle but rude! You get one game a day and the answers can vary from pretty harmless to full-on not safe for work. Available on any web browser.
